There’s a new Bend blog in town: Bend Reality Check, but I don’t know how long it will last. I say this because the tagline is, “Mission: to maintain some sort of reality for those who think they are the most important people in Bend, Oregon” and it appears to have been launched primarily to get back at Shannon and Simone for blogging their bad experience at Kanpai. As such it’s full of snarky comments about the two of them.

That’s too bad, because this sounds like it could be a good insider’s blog about the restaurants in Bend:

I am an culinary hermit that lives in the shadows of Bend, Oregon. In a former life I was a culinary mercinary in this town, with 14 years of food slinging under my belt. Titles were bestowed upon me, such as: restaurant manager, production chef, lead saute chef, kitchen manger, etc, but I renouced my titles to walk the earth, like Caine in Kung Fu, only unsheathing my food mojo for special people and occasions.

  1. I happen to think that they were well within limits to post about an experience they had (2 others since have posted that they waited and had less than adequate food there). However, KanPai has shown it’s true colors by playing dirty flaming them (or getting their "friends" to) on 2 sites now. Starting a site *just to bash them* is just crossing the line.

I for one, would not go there, as I don’t eat fish/sushi πŸ˜›

  2. Heh, I think it’s funny. We have a right to say what we want and so do they.

  3. Since reading this little drama and relaying it to some of my friends, I have found that everyone I know that has been there has had bad/rude service. No way to run a business. Getting your cronies to publicly harass people is no way conduct themselves either. I don’t think I will ever go back.

  4. I’m not sure I care. I think the guys is obsessive-compulsive and has way too much time on his hands.

But hey Shannon – maybe we should be flattered that we have a bona-fide online stalker now! He even called us "Princesses". Awww…. That’s not too bad, now is it? He could have called us worse.

And knowing that I once had a fan out there was definitely worth reading his blog for too. I had no idea! It’s so nice to know that you’re loved. Even if it didn’t last. πŸ˜‰

  5. Oh, and pssssshhhh … should I tell the stalker guy that I don’t live in Bend? I guess he’ll have to change his tagline now to "…who think they are the most important people in Bend and La Pine, Oregon". Heh.

  6. This is great, might get even more companies/businesses/restaurants to realize if they screw us over, we’re not going to keep quiet about it. If a business screws up, it’s their problem to fix. They get to be help accountable. Just ask me about Red Robin. πŸ™‚

  7. In the Sources restaurant guide, they mention that everyone at the place from waiter to chef could be much friendlier. I guess that settles it.
