The Skittles beard commercial

Okay, just a little while ago I saw the creepiest, randomest commercial for Skittles ever… I won’t even pretend to try to understand it…

Anyone else seen it? Basically, a guy with a weird, long (like, three-feet-plus long) beard is at a job interview, and the beard is moving like an elephant’s trunk, feeding the guy skittles from the desk. The woman conducting the interview is trying to turn him down, and—

Yeah, freakshow—

—and the beard feeds the woman a Skittle and strokes the side of her face, while he just chuckles in a creepy way.

And that’s it.

I can pretty much guarantee I’ll never buy another pack of Skittles again.

…You didn’t think I wouldn’t give you a link, did you? Here’s the video on YouTube.

  1. OMG – I thought I was the only one totally creeped out by this commercial.
Relieved to hear that I’m not ….

Skittles has come up with some seriously demented commercials in the past couple of years (who can forget the guy in the eagle’s nest?). And while I probably will never buy another bag of Skittles ever again, the ad campaign also has made sure, I’ll NEVER EVER forget Skittles.

So from that point of view – pretty damn brilliant….

  2. i loved it
    hahahaa
    it was so funny.
    i love those commercials
me nd mah girls laugh bout it all da time

  3. Creepy is the right word- but so is hilarious. After I saw the commercial for the first time just now I was not sure if I truly saw what I thought I saw. I Googled "skittles" and "beard" and found this site.

Seems the trend now is to make commercials that are oing to get people talking about them and are really, really wierd. The Burger King "big bucking chicken" is another example of this trend.

  4. I’m a 6’4" 230 pound athletic male. I just watched the scariest commercial ever. Today is Saturday, April 1 and this is no April Fool’s day prank. It’s 10:30pm and I’m looking over my shoulder after watching this commercial. I keep having this strange feeling that the beard is touching me. I don’t know what the Skittles advertising department was trying to achieve with this commercial (aside from the buzz), but I honestly won’t buy another pack of skittles again.

  5. I THOUGHT THIS COMMERCIAL WAS HILARIOUS! I’M NOT A FAN OF SKITTLES BUT DAMN THEY GET AN A+ FOR EFFORT

  6. this commercial TOTALLY freaked me out … but in this totally awesome way that i love. i don’t think i’ll EVER sleep again.

    ever.

  7. It’s a tongue-in-cheek spot. While it’s wierd, I like it. Certainly memorable. This goes to show, change is good although it’s a little ‘off’ or demented. Which ever works for you.

  8. i understand why youre creeped out. maybe you have to have a certain kind of sense of humor but i however can be quoted as of today saying " i don’t think skittles understands what kind of a gem they have here." i hope to see more of the beard gut because it gets funnier everytime!!!!

  9. he scared me soooooo much everytime i see it i freak out tears come to my eyes everyone laughs at me and pets my face.

  10. Thats easily the funniest commercial I have ever seen. It doesnt make me want skittles but it sure makes me laugh.

  11. It is very creepy but i cant help but laugh everytime i see it. but is there supposed to be some kind of meaning. most commercials are either direct or indirect but they almost all have a meaning. Does this? It must! Its just so random

  12. Hey..I saw this commerical in america, while i was visiting there and i found the skittles ad hilarious, its by far the most unusal and funniest ad i have EVER seen! It definitely makes u remember Skittles! just not in the same way lol

  13. I think I can safely say this one of the best commercials I have ever seen. I Have never wanted a beard more now than I have ever wanted one before. When body hair feeds a woman candy, you know you’ve got a winning combination. I want to go out and buy skittles JUST because they created this… perfect bit of entertainment.

    ~ satisfied.

  14. this video makes me want to dump my paychecks into mass amounts of skittles.

    this commercial is a goldmine

  15. Okay, okay so we’ve established that its creepy. Maybe its supposed to be. I think it was intended to poke fun at other senseless commercials. Either that or the Skittles marketing dept. has completely lost their minds!!

  16. After watching it again I agree with Anonymous. It does look like Will Ferrel and if it is, it explains everything. It’s probably his brain child.

  17. I am not sure that I understand the commercial, but I think the beard with the opposable "thumb" is supposed to be phallic in some way.

  18. To respond to KellyTeeth’s post.. ew! i doubt that its supposed to be Phallic. Looks more like an elephant trunk to me. And yes it does look like Will Ferrel but i disregarded it because i doubted that he would be in a skittles commercial but you never know.

  19. OMG…everytime I see this commercial I just bust up laughing. I can just think about it and it makes me break into laughter. This has got to be the best commercial EVER! I walk around saying "experience". LOL

  20. This commercial is not "ha-ha" funny, really. It is disturbing. It is creepy. It is sick. It is 100% INAPPROPRIATE for kids TV. But it sure as sh** ain’t funny. Dopes.

  21. Inappropriate? It’s probably about as inappropriate for children’s television as Teletubbies is. Now THAT’s creepy.

This is, hands down, the funniest commercial I’ve ever seen. Creepy, yes, but funny as hell too.

I just wish I could find somewhere that will let me save it to my hard drive…

  22. OMG… Our old Director of our Information Technology Department is doing commercials now. WOW. His beard is a little longer in the commercial than it used to be. I can’t help but laugh; it’s only a little creepy.

  23. I love his beard but mine is longer i should practice moving it with strings …haha

  24. "Experience" Ha Ha Ha. I walk around saying it all the time. I love it!!! Definitely weird. Definitely genius.
