Holy expletive, that code makes me angry and want to laugh at the same time. I’ll just reiterate Deane’s headline: Someone please fire the person who wrote that.
I wasn’t in programmer mode (just got done designing a marketing piece) when I first looked at that and thought "OK, it’s just ugly, but what’s the problem?" Then I actually looked at the code and saw that it was basically taking whatever you put in the form and executing it straight into the SQL query, I would now agree: Somebody needs a butt-kicking.
Even though I’m not a good programmer at all, I do appreciate some of the hideous stuff on DailyWTF — been reading it for a long time (the Microsoft-based pieces of code are always the worst). Thanks for the reminder to check back there again!
